Sprouts Go Green was started when I was ten years old, a "sprout." I wanted to create a website that turned my passion for the environment into a source that could educate and inspire others my age. It believe that it is vital to educate children from a young age about the importance of living an eco-friendly lifestyle, for the care of the earth will soon be in their hands. This website started out as a place for me to spread my message, and has evolved into a non-profit that sells eco-friendly t-shirts, hats, re-usable tote bags, and aprons, raising money for organizations that share my passion. I have sold these products at events around town, as well as received an award from the Girl Scouts and grants from my town and county to create a recycling program in my community and to continue my efforts. Years later, this site has progressed to include photographs of the beauty in nature and continues to inspire young sprouts.
When I was ten years old, I was passionate about the environment. I started this website and spent hours researching and writing articles to fill the site. I interviewed someone who worked in the paper industry, created instructions for eco-friendly crafts, and read about smog and alternative energy around the world.
I later designed t-shirts to sell at local events, and with the help of my younger sister, I raised a lot of money to donate to the Nature Conservancy, The World Wide Fund for Nature, start a learning garden at a local elementary school, and contribute to other non-profit organizations that would further my efforts.
Over the years this website has grown into a source of information and inspiration that I hope will be able to reach young sprouts.
